Fourth Bosnia-Herzegovinian Film Festival in Tribeca

Friday and Saturday, 11-12 May, the fourth annual Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) hits Tribeca with six recent short films and six feature films about Bosnia or by Bosnian filmmakers.

The films will be screened in six blocks (one short and one feature film) over the two days at a new venue,
Tribeca Cinemas (54 Varick Street at Laight Street).

Here’s the schedule:

Block 1 (Friday at 7:00 p.m.)

  • Good Luck Nedim (Sretan put Nedime, Marko Santic, Slovenia 2006, 13”
  • Armin (Ognjen Svilicic, Croatia / Bosnia and Hercegovina / Germany 2007, 82”)

Block 2 (Friday at 9:00 p.m.)

  • The Way We Played (Kako smo se igrali, Samir Mehanovic, Bosnia and Hercegovina / UK 2005, 13”)
  • Grbavica (Jasmila Zbanic, Austria / Bosnia and Hercegovina / Germany / Croatia 2006, 95”) (previously on Slavs of New York)

Block 3 (Saturday at 3:00 p.m.)

  • Statement 710399 (Izjava 710399, Refik Hodzic, Bosnia and Hercegovina 2006, 54”)
  • Carnival (Karneval, Alen Drljevic, Bosnia and Hercegovina 2006, 71”)

Block 4 (Saturday at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Two Sisters - Story About Love (Dvije sestre - prica o ljubavi, Dzemal Sabic, Bosnia and Hercegovina 2006, 9”)
  • Mum and Dad (Mama i tata, Faruk Loncarevic, Bosnia and Hercegovina 2006, 65”)

Block 5 (Saturday at 7:00 p.m.)

  • For Whom The Bell Tolls (Za kim zvono zvoni, Dzemal Sabic, Bosnia and Hercegovina 2005, 10”)
  • All for Free (Sve dzaba, Antonio Nuic, Bosnia and Hercegovina / Serbia and Montenegro / Croatia 2006, 94”)

Block 6 (Saturday at 9:15 p.m.)

BHFF will present two awards at the end of the festival, the 2007 Audience Award for the Best Short or Feature Film, and the 2007 Audience Award for the Best Documentary Award. Both will be given in memory of recently-deceased Dr. Benjamin Filipovic, an important filmmaker from Bosnia who is credited with inspiring the very first BHFF.

The fourth annual Bosnian Herzegovinian Film Festival is organized by the Academy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Inc. and the Voice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Inc. Festival screenings run through Sunday.
